Saabira Chaudhuri of The Guardian relates the increase in charitable donations in America as the economy improves after the recession.
Chaudhuri sites the annual Philanthropy 50 list of the Chronicle of Philanthropy which revealed that donors gave $10.4bn in 2011 with agribusiness heiress Margaret A Cargill on top having an estimated $6 billion donation to charitable causes.
